2nd General Assembly, ExCom & Technical Meetings (M24)

The second General Assembly, an Executive Committee and technical meeting will take place at the JRC Petten (The Netherlands). Below you find detailed meeting information. Please note that the regsitration needs to be done via JRC’s meeting portal (see the link below)!

Right after the MEACTOS meeting(s) a NUGENIA TA4 meeting will take place on the afternoon of October 23 and morning of October 24.

Important dates:

  • Hotel pre-reservation cut-off date: September 23
  • Meeting registration deadline: October 14

Location

The meeting will take place at the JRC, close to Petten in the Netherlands. See map below and “Travel information” on the right. It is recommended to take a hotel in Alkmaar (see “Accommodation” below). Transportation from Alkmaar to the JRC site will be available (see below).

Accommodation

JRC has made a block reservation for meeting participants at Hotel Amrâth in Alkmaar. The room rate is € 80 per night excluding breakfast & tourist tax. If you want to make use of the block reservation please book directly with Hotel Amrâth using the hotel booking form. Please send your booking form to info@amrathalkmaar.nl and put the local host (willy.muntjewerf@ec.europa.eu & oliver.martin@ec.europa.eu) in “Cc”, so that they know that you are staying there.

The cut-off date of the pre-reservation is September 23!

If you plan to participate in the NUGENIA TA4 meeting and thus stay another night, please indicate this in the same booking form.

Travel information

Transportation from/to Schipol airport:

For participants of the ExCom meeting arriving at Schiphol in the morning of October 21, JRC can arrange direct transport to Petten, providing that at least 3 persons share a taxi. If you want to make use of this option, please send the arrival time of your flight or Thalys train in Schiphol to the local host (willy.muntjewerf@ec.europa.eu & oliver.martin@ec.europa.eu), so that they can plan accordingly. Please be prepared that you might have to wait a while at Schiphol for the arrival of other meeting participants!

For participants of the General Assembly who will not stay for the NUGENIA TA4 meeting, JRC can organise direct transportation from Petten to Schiphol as well, again providing that at least 3 persons share a taxi. Departure time in Petten will be approx. 13:00 on October 23, so arrival time in Schiphol will be approx. 14:00, allowing you to catch flights departing after 15:30.

Participants of the technical meeting and/or GA that arrive the night before the meetings are kindly asked to travel to Alkmaar via train. Alkmaar can be easily reached by train from Amsterdam central station and Schiphol airport. Train schedules can be found under www.ns.nl. Hotel Amrâth is in walking distance from Alkmaar train station.

Transportation between Alkmaar & JRC:

We will arrange group transportation between the hotel in Alkmaar and JRC in Petten on all meeting days:

  • For participants of the ExCom meeting in the late afternoon of October 21 from JRC to the hotel.
  • For participants of the technical meeting on October 22 from the hotel to JRC in the morning and back in the late afternoon.
  • For participants of the GA on October 23 from the hotel to JRC in the morning and back again in the late afternoon for those staying for the NUGENIA TA4 meeting.

Programme

The whole event starts with the ExCom meeting (only for ExCom members) at 13:00 on Monday (Oct. 21) with lunch and will end after the GA at approx. 12:00 on Wednesday (Oct. 23). Currently no visit of JRC’s labs is scheduled, but we will try to squeeze in a lab visit during the meeting (to be announced later). A common dinner will be organised on Tuesday evening in Alkmaar.
